How it Works!

The Virtual Server System uses the idea of multiplexing a single UNIX server into multiple virtual machines. Each virtual server user will get their own set of virtual services that they may customize to their liking or needs. Each virtual server has its own unique domain name and IP address.

When a request comes in, the Virtual Server System will determine which virtual server will service the request based on this unique IP address and then invoke the appropriate service to respond to the request. Therefore each virtual server user may have his own custom configuration, individual log files, custom CGIs, etc.!

Why get a Virtual Server

The Virtual Server System gives you Internet services such as World Wide Web, FTP, E-mail, and more at a fraction of the cost of a dedicated server without compromising power and flexibility. The design of our Virtual Server System is to maximize customer's use, control, and design of their own site. This is quite unlike "Virtual Hosting", such as Apache and others, which merely spoofs the domain name of a company to point to a subdirectory of a server controlled by someone else.

Virtual Server Features
A Little Technology Shoppe, LLC's Virtual Server System comes with its own configuration files, cgi-bin, and access logs. The Virtual Server System also comes with an FTP server (anonymous and multi-user), unlimited e-mail POP accounts and e-mail aliasing, with full access to your own "etc/aliases" and "etc/sendmail.cf" files. Mailing lists, list servers, and autoresponders can be easily installed on any of our virtual servers. Netscape compatible encryption is also available to make your Virtual Server transactions secure! By providing all of these features in a virtual environment, the Virtual Server System is redefining the word "virtual", bringing more control and power to the WWW market.

Thus the Virtual Server System helps you in many ways! By sharing the UNIX server, you save thousands of dollars while still maintaining a high speed Internet connection. The virtual server is also far easier to maintain than a dedicated server because most of the work is done for you.
